Making Records

3rd July 2010, Delhi

Please Note: Following Post is only pertinent to MBA batch of 2009

The orphan batch of 2009 will always be remembered for making records no one even dared to think about.

We went where no one from any IIM had gone before.

We even went where no one even from IIPM had gone before.

We went to PSU’s

At the onset there were records about MBA students
  • More than 50% of MBA’s change their jobs within one year of joining
  • Minimum Salary after an MBA is 9 LPA
  • 150% Placements are a given
  • There are a minimum of 5% beautiful girls in the batch
And then we arrived.

Considering the sheer number of records we have managed to set and break till date & are breaking even as you read this, it is impossible to list all of them. Hence, in the interest of time conservation I’ll list a few:
  • Less than 10% changing their jobs within one year
  • Maximum Salary is 9 LPA
  • 15% Placements are a given
  • There are a maximum of 5% beautiful girls in the batch, if any
These records were not set in isolation by "out"standing students. Accompanying these students was the best recession in the last few decades and an unprecedented amount of fear over the future of many businesses. Mass hysteria was rampant and it seemed end of the world just might have been preponed by 3-4 years from 2012. Under these circumstances even to survive and get a single job was a herculean task and a record.

It does make me wonder……

What exactly is it that leads to a record?

Extraordinary people in ordinary situations or just ordinary people in extraordinary situations

I guess that I will just keep on wondering for a long time.

PS: Following record is a projection of mine. Work for it & enjoy it as a bonus.
“More than 150% changing their jobs in two years (Projected)”
